Is it normal for a camel to have a white frothy foam coming from his mouth? We have had Omar for almost a year - and the past few days he has had a foaming problem. He seems to be healthy and happy. Just foamy. Is this normal? Or is something wrong?

My Camel has the same problem. White foam from the mouth plus now he is not eating very well. I had the vet in to have a look at him last week and he found that his back teeth were sharp. He filed the teeth down,(which is not a simple job) and took a blood sample. At first he was ok but now he is foaming again. I still havent got the results from the blood test but should anything be found that causes the foaming I will let you know, as I am sure you will let me know should you find what is causing the foaming with your camel

I have just recieved info from a camel breeder from Holland, A man with years of expierence. Apparently foaming at the mouth is a sign that it is the matiing season and that the camel is in rut. This can go on for a couple of month along with a lack of appetite. Very Happy

A female that I work with started foaming excessively and went off her diet. Intially it was discovered that she had a cracked tooth. They removed it, took x-rays, and discovered the reason behind the cracked tooth and more that likely the foaming was a jaw fracture! YOUCH! Anyways, several months later, after lots of antibiotics, a stint of kidney problems, and over a month of IV fluids, she's starting to improve. Her foaming decreased as her fracture healed.
