Hobbles are not a sufficient means of keeping camels in camp, but are a priceless backup and will increase your chances of locating a lost camel if the main method of camel restraint fails.

Camel Hobbles
Camel hobbles will slow a camel down, but will not stop them from going a few miles or more during the night. They work good for letting a camel browse around camp for food when you can keep an eye on them.

Camel Hobbles & Picket Lines
Using both a picket line and hobbles along with a good quality camel halter. This is a excellent way to tie up a wandering camel for the night. Not all camel need this, some camels love to hang around camp but can become a pest at times.

Light-Weight Hobbles
Modern horse hobbles made out of nylon webbing and neoprene padding are light weight, strong, easy on the camel's legs, inexpensive, and they don't take up much space when packing!
